Alyssa Wills was most recently seen as Micaëla in a concert production of “Carmen” with the Los Angeles-based Opera Buffs, Inc.
Earlier this year, she portrayed Susan B. Anthony in Laura Karpman’s “Balls,” presented in The Industry’s First Take Concert, and joined LA Opera’s Outreach and Education Program as Marcellina in a tour of “Figaro’s American Adventure.” Other recent performances include the world premiere of Nimbus with The Industry, Fiordiligi in LTD Opera’s Così fan tutte, Ariadne in Ariadne auf Naxos, and Marthe Marker in a premier reading of Frau Schindler, both at USC.
She has been fortunate to spend past summers at the Tanglewood Music Festival, as well as the Aspen Music Festival. She was honored to be a District Winner in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions last year, as well as a finalist in the Palm Springs Opera Guild Competition for the second consecutive year. She has been awarded third place in the NATS Gwendolyn Roberts Young Artist Competition, a Young Musicians Foundation Scholarship, and the Theodore Presser Scholarship in Music.
Alyssa is a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society and holds a BM Vocal Performance degree from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach, as well as an MM in Vocal Arts from the University of Southern California.
As a graduate student there, she worked as a student instructor, teaching lessons to non-music major students, as well as being very active in community outreach, bringing live music to local schools and hospitals as the group leader of “The Hollywood Trio” through the Gluck Fellowship program.
