Shirley Jang
Shirley Jang – Bio Praised for her beautiful nuance, lyricism, and sensitivity to music-making and possessing “depth and real meaning in her musicianship,” Shirley Jang has captivated a wide audience throughout her musical career as a soloist and recitalist. Ms. Jang has performed extensively across the United States and in prestigious concert halls in Europe, notably the Esterházy Palace and Sopron Convention Center in Austria and Hungary.
She has also participated in various music festivals including the Aspen Music Festival and School and the BANFF Keyboard Festival, studying with eminent pianists and pedagogues of the classical piano world. With a strong love and passion for chamber music and creative collaboration, Shirley has performed as a collaborative pianist for studios of world-renowned instrumental and vocal artists such as Cho-Liang Lin, Rodney Gilfry, Susanne Mentzer, and Stephen King. Shirley holds her Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from Rice University and her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Southern California.
Beyond the stage, Ms. Jang is a dedicated educator passionate about promoting the growth of every student as a whole person though the gift of music. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in nurturing creativity, encouraging active, experiential learning, and creating opportunities for students to explore new ways of expressing themselves through music. With over a decade of piano instruction to students of all ages and levels, Shirley continues to find great joy in helping students explore their curiosities, and in the process grow their skills so they can unlock their full potential! Through performance, education, and community engagement, Shirley’s utmost goal is to spread joy and uplift the community and beyond through the power of music and the arts.
